BCG’s Meeting Conference with Farmers to Participate in the Large Field Partnership Project, Combining Production and Consumption of Cocoa in Trang Bom District, Dong Nai Province

On August 4th, 2016, Bamboo Capital Joint Stock Company (BCG) organized its “Meeting conference with farmers to participate in the large field partnership project, combining production and consumption of cocoa in Trang Bom district, Dong Nai province” at the hall of the People’s Committee of An Vien Commune, Dong Nai with participation from leaders of the Department of Crop Production – Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, provincial leaders and more than 200 farmers.

This is one of those activities to carry out BCG’s cocoa large field project which has been approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dong Nai province in order to develop cooperation, associate production with consumption of agricultural produce in Trang Bom district, Dong Nai province. At the conference, farmers were provided with information regarding targets, scale and efficiency of the project, along with preferential and support policies by the State, BCG’s own support policies for the project and especially the intercropping cultivation techniques, taking care of the farmers’ crops while planting cocoa.

Mr. Huynh Thanh Vinh- Deputy Manager–  Agriculture and Rural Development  Department of Dong Nai province, spoke about support policies of the State for this large field project.

Participation of more than 200 farmers from An Vien, Dong Hoa, and Song Trau communes in Trang Bom district.

In addition, BCG also signed strategic cooperation agreements with Trong Duc Cocoa Company; An Vien Cooperatives; Song Gianh Corporation – Dong Nai branch for the Company’s large field project which intercrops cocoa with cashews. The signing of these strategic cooperation agreements between BCG and its partners in this project opens up opportunities for the parties to cooperate, extend mutual support and develop a closed-loop cocoa system from planting, technical support, procurement and consumption of products. From then, gradually creating the sustainable cocoa ingredients, contributing to enriching the plant structure, increasing income for local farmers and contributing greatly to the increase in exported cocoa output for Vietnam. The project will be implemented in three communes including An Vien, Dong Hoa and Song Trau with an expected scale of 1,000 hectares being intercropped on the existing cashews-cultivated area. Farmers participating in the project will be supported by BCG with seedlings, production techniques, funding and most importantly – all output will be procured by BCG and Mars Group, the regional consumption partner of this project.
